About The Masterson Method ®
Masterson Method ® Integrated Equine Performance Bodywork works with the horse’s nervous system to release tension. As a prey species, the horse has a heightened flight response (the sympathetic system). The Masterson Method® is based on engaging the horse beneath the brace response preparatory to flight (the parasympathetic system) to allow the release of tension and concentrates on three key junctions in the horse’s body. Masterson Method ® techniques work on the whole horse releasing deep seated tensions to allow relaxation and enhanced performance.
ABOUT Training for Straightness and Posture
Bodywork promotes relaxation allowing the horse to learn without tension. A straight horse is properly aligned from poll to tail via the three key junctions. Straightness exercises allows the horse to be worked correctly without causing strain or even injury on incorrectly loaded limbs. Moi can offer a range of exercises to complement the bodywork session, enabling the required strength through pole work, in hand exercises and long reining (lunging with two reins).
Equitation science promotes an objective, evidence-based understanding of how horses learn, and how to train them accordingly. It promotes the welfare of horses during training and competition by applying valid, quantitative evidence based methods.
